# 小雨西游utf8 / Light Rain Journey to the West (UTF-8 Snapshot) > slug: `xyxyutf8` · browser status: `playable` · native port: `40168` Another independent archive of the Xiaoyu Xiyou / Xiaoyu Xiyou II engine, its filename flagging that it had already been pre-converted to UTF-8. Though it shares an engine family with this project's xyxy2 and xiaoyuxiyou snapshots -- including the same Aolai Kingdom newbie zone (safe sparring, an NPC-taught two-step skill-learning flow, a starting-inn shop and message board) -- a content-hash comparison shows it is not a byte-for-byte duplicate of either (8,753 vs. 11,149 .lpc files); it's a snapshot from a different point in the game's development, not just a re-encoding, so it was processed as its own distinct archive. Beyond the shared newbie content, this build layers a level-gated spell/dungeon progression under daemon/class/spells/40/, numbered in tiers players "break through" as they level. ## Play in the browser (WebAssembly) - Landing page (description + notes): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/xyxyutf8/ - Play now (boots the WASM driver): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/xyxyutf8/play.html ## Download source ZIP - Same-origin ZIP (trimmed source tree, no need to clone the whole repo): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/xyxyutf8/xyxyutf8.zip - GitHub tree: https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/tree/main/libs/xyxyutf8 - README: https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/blob/main/libs/xyxyutf8/README.md - Restoration notes (NOTES.md): https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/blob/main/libs/xyxyutf8/NOTES.md ## Run natively with FluffOS 1. Build a current FluffOS driver from https://github.com/fluffos/fluffos (native `build` / `build-debug`; see that repo's docs). 2. Download and unzip `xyxyutf8.zip` from the URL above (or clone `https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs` and use `libs/xyxyutf8/`). 3. From the unzipped lib directory, ensure `config.fluffos` points `mudlib directory` at this tree (the checked-in file may contain a maintainer-local absolute path — edit it to your extract path). 4. Start the driver: ```bash /path/to/fluffos/build/src/driver config.fluffos ``` 5. Connect a UTF-8 MUD client to `127.0.0.1:40168`. - Admin / wizard login: `fluffos` (password documented in README) - If you host this on a public network, change the published default admin password before opening the port. ## Machine-readable catalog - Site-wide catalog: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/games.json - Site-wide LLM overview: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/llms.txt - This file: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/xyxyutf8/llms.txt
