A Nightmare Mudlib-lineage English-language AD&D/d20-style fantasy MUD, grown into a large, decades-developed game with feats, invocations, spell disciplines, ~50 playable races, and 14 classes, each with its own trainer NPC and a 15-stage guided character-creation wizard (class, gender, race, subrace, template, age, stat rolling, appearance, language, alignment, deity, class special). The repo's own README states this is or was a real, still-hosted MUD at shadowgate.org -- unrelated to the classic 1989 NES adventure game of the same name.

## Run natively with FluffOS

1. Build a current FluffOS driver from https://github.com/fluffos/fluffos
   (native `build` / `build-debug`; see that repo's docs).
2. Download and unzip `shadowgate.zip` from the URL above (or clone
   `https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs` and use `libs/shadowgate/`).
3. From the unzipped lib directory, ensure `config.fluffos` points
   `mudlib directory` at this tree (the checked-in file may contain a
   maintainer-local absolute path — edit it to your extract path).
4. Start the driver:

```bash
/path/to/fluffos/build/src/driver config.fluffos
```

5. Connect a UTF-8 MUD client to `127.0.0.1:40246`.

- Admin / wizard login: see this lib's README (no seeded account recorded)
- If you host this on a public network, change the published default
  admin password before opening the port.
