# Merentha / Merentha FluffOS Lib

A classic English-language LPMud lib explicitly based on the popular Nightmare 3 lib, per its own description aiming to have "the Nightmare feel and robustness without the complications of verbs or weird lfun names." New characters wake in a race-selection limbo room (a wall of frozen male/female bodies in wall compartments, one pair per race), pick a gender and race with `become <gender> <race>` from six options (human, giant, gnome, elf, dwarf, fairy), and land in the Cabeiri starting town with its central square, guild halls (fighter/mage/healer/monk), and general supply shop. Ships a full skill-point system (30+ skills from swordplay to alchemy to bargaining), a limb-based body model, an Intermud-3 daemon, and a wizard-oriented `/cmds/admin` toolset.

## Run natively with FluffOS

1. Build a current FluffOS driver from https://github.com/fluffos/fluffos
   (native `build` / `build-debug`; see that repo's docs).
2. Download and unzip `merentha.zip` from the URL above (or clone
   `https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs` and use `libs/merentha/`).
3. From the unzipped lib directory, ensure `config.fluffos` points
   `mudlib directory` at this tree (the checked-in file may contain a
   maintainer-local absolute path — edit it to your extract path).
4. Start the driver:

/path/to/fluffos/build/src/driver config.fluffos
```

5. Connect a UTF-8 MUD client to `127.0.0.1:40223`.

- Admin / wizard login: see this lib's README (no seeded account recorded)
- If you host this on a public network, change the published default
  admin password before opening the port.
