# Dead Souls 3.0 / Dead Souls 3.0 > slug: `dsIII` · browser status: `playable` · native port: `40229` The real, self-identified 'Dead Souls' object library at its 3.0 point release (December 2009) -- an early snapshot of the same 3.x codebase branch that later became the 3.8.6 generation, several point releases and years earlier, with seven of that later version's nine domains: a default starting area, a town, the example town Ylsrim, an LPC-University-style campus, a cave zone, an examples area, and Praxis. Registration includes an age gate ('Are you 13 years of age or older?') followed by a race pick from eight options -- dwarf, elf, half-elf, half-orc, halfling, human, orc, or poleepkwa -- and, like dsII, the very first account ever created walks through a one-time admin-installation wizard before the mud restarts into its normal login flow. This is the most network-connected mud in the collection: it dials out to a live IMC2 hub and a separate Intermud-3 network on every boot, and even a bare, unattended boot triggers an automatic version-check that fetches the still-live dead-souls.net's release notes over a real HTTP connection. ## Play in the browser (WebAssembly) - Landing page (description + notes): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsIII/ - Play now (boots the WASM driver): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsIII/play.html ## Download source ZIP - Same-origin ZIP (trimmed source tree, no need to clone the whole repo): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsIII/dsIII.zip - GitHub tree: https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/tree/main/libs/dsIII - README: https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/blob/main/libs/dsIII/README.md - Restoration notes (NOTES.md): https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/blob/main/libs/dsIII/NOTES.md ## Run natively with FluffOS 1. Build a current FluffOS driver from https://github.com/fluffos/fluffos (native `build` / `build-debug`; see that repo's docs). 2. Download and unzip `dsIII.zip` from the URL above (or clone `https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs` and use `libs/dsIII/`). 3. From the unzipped lib directory, ensure `config.fluffos` points `mudlib directory` at this tree (the checked-in file may contain a maintainer-local absolute path — edit it to your extract path). 4. Start the driver: ```bash /path/to/fluffos/build/src/driver config.fluffos ``` 5. Connect a UTF-8 MUD client to `127.0.0.1:40229`. - Admin / wizard login: see this lib's README (no seeded account recorded) - If you host this on a public network, change the published default admin password before opening the port. ## Machine-readable catalog - Site-wide catalog: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/games.json - Site-wide LLM overview: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/llms.txt - This file: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsIII/llms.txt
