# Dead Souls I / Dead Souls I > slug: `dsI` · browser status: `playable` · native port: `40225` An early, distinct generation of the Dead Souls object library -- several in-file headers self-identify it as 'Dead Souls V'/'the Dead Souls r1/r2 Object Library' (1996-98 vintage), structurally closer to Nightmare IV than to the later 3.8.6-era Dead Souls this collection already hosts as ds386/deadsouls_fluffos (only 2 domains versus the other two copies' 8, no estates/powers/std/open directories, a roughly 1/3-the-size master.lpc). A genuine first-boot admin-installation wizard walks a fresh connection through name/password/gender/display-name/email/real-name, then a race-selection step offering 17 races (list/help RACE/pick RACE) before the mud's ordinary login/registration flow self-installs in its place. The built world is small but real: a starting domain plus one example town, Ylsrim, with a pub, an armoury, a weaponry, a jar-and-lightning-bug minigame object, and a couple of deliberately 'broken' disease-item teaching examples. Makes a genuine outbound Intermud-3 connection to a real nameserver a few seconds after boot -- don't sweep this lib into high-frequency automated re-boot loops. ## Play in the browser (WebAssembly) - Landing page (description + notes): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsI/ - Play now (boots the WASM driver): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsI/play.html ## Download source ZIP - Same-origin ZIP (trimmed source tree, no need to clone the whole repo): https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsI/dsI.zip - GitHub tree: https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/tree/main/libs/dsI - README: https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/blob/main/libs/dsI/README.md - Restoration notes (NOTES.md): https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs/blob/main/libs/dsI/NOTES.md ## Run natively with FluffOS 1. Build a current FluffOS driver from https://github.com/fluffos/fluffos (native `build` / `build-debug`; see that repo's docs). 2. Download and unzip `dsI.zip` from the URL above (or clone `https://github.com/fluffos/mudlibs` and use `libs/dsI/`). 3. From the unzipped lib directory, ensure `config.fluffos` points `mudlib directory` at this tree (the checked-in file may contain a maintainer-local absolute path — edit it to your extract path). 4. Start the driver: ```bash /path/to/fluffos/build/src/driver config.fluffos ``` 5. Connect a UTF-8 MUD client to `127.0.0.1:40225`. - Admin / wizard login: see this lib's README (no seeded account recorded) - If you host this on a public network, change the published default admin password before opening the port. ## Machine-readable catalog - Site-wide catalog: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/games.json - Site-wide LLM overview: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/llms.txt - This file: https://mudlibs.fluffos.info/dsI/llms.txt
